A diverse cross section of Americans served in the U.S. Navy, at sea and at home. Black, Latino, Asian American and Native American crew members served on board Intrepid and Growler. While women did not serve on either of the Museum’s two vessels, women made many contributions to the U.S. military during this period. Browse artifacts, images, and oral histories that illuminate the lives and service of crew members, their families, and other individuals whose experiences are often underrepresented in the story of the U.S. Navy.
