Letter from Mike Hoppus to his wife, Suzanne. The letter describes a jet accident on board that injured one sailor and killed another, Richard Urban. Hoppus flew a search and rescue mission, but Urban's body was not recovered. He mentions that Intrepid is currently heading to Palma. The ship is trying to make up time lost searching for the sailor and is going very fast. He goes on to discuss a flight he was on while Intrepid was in Crete. He describes that they were picking up a Marine who had appendicitis on the USS Ponce and marveled at how beautiful the flight was. A captain on the USS Ponce invited him and the flight crew for coffee in his stateroom. He mentions money he is sending to Suzanne, and tells her he loves her and will see her almost soon. The letter is signed "Mike x".
