Carroll Richard Semple, who went by C.R. or Dick, served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) as a seaman second class, S2. According to the muster rolls, where his name is listed as Carol, he joined the ship’s crew on February 9, 1945 and left the crew on June 15, 1946. He passed away in 1998.
