Jere Austin

Jere Austin served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) during World War II as an ensign and fire marshal in the R2 Division office. He served from July 1943 until June 1946. After the war, Austin went on to marry his wife, Jean, and worked as a mechanical engineer with General Electric, the Pelton Waterwheel Co., and the City of San Francisco. He retired after 37 1/2 years with Westinghouse Electric Corp. He died in 2020.
