John Rivers

John Rivers served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid as an aviation electrician’s mate second class (AE2) with Attack Squadron 76 (VA-76). Rivers served with the squadron in the late 1950s, including when the squadron was attached to Intrepid in 1958. On April 10, 1958, Rivers was blown overboard by a jet blast. He survived and was quickly picked up by a helicopter.
