Virdean N. Withrow
Virdean N. Withrow served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He retired in 1960 as a chief aviation boatswain’s mate, ABC. He served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVA-11). According to Withrow's son, Daniel Withrow, his father served on board Intrepid in the mid-1950s; he possessed the 1954–1955 and 1956 cruise books.
During his long career, Withrow served on board numerous other ships including USS Lexington (CV-2), USS Sicily (CVE-118), USS Antietam (CV-36), USS Warren (APA-53) and a submarine chaser (SC-707). Withrow passed away on December 1, 2006.
