D. Keith Strickland
Keith Strickland was designated a naval aviator in 1964. Over the course of his 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, he logged over 4,000 flight hours and made 488 carrier landings.
Among his many assignments, Strickland served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11). He was an aviator with Attack Squadron 15 (VA-15) and flew A-4 Skyhawks. Strickland, who was a lieutenant junior grade at the time of his service on Intrepid, served on board during the ship's first two Vietnam War deployments in 1966 and 1967.
When he retired, Strickland held the rank of lieutenant commander.
