Joseph Aronson

Joseph Aronson served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) during World War II. According to the muster rolls, he was received on board on May 25, 1945 and transferred off the ship on November 10 of that year. At the time he left the crew, his rating was listed as seaman first class, gunner’s mate [S1 (GM)]. According to his son Robert, his father served in the 4th Division on Intrepid, and his station was a 40mm gun tub forward on the port side. His father was later discharged from the Navy as a boatswain’s mate third class (BM3).
