USS Growler (SS-215) was a Gato-class submarine that served in World War II. It was commissioned in 1942. Growler was sunk on its eleventh patrol in 1944.

The submarine on display at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum--the former USS Growler (SSG-577), a missile submarine--was named after this earlier submarine.
