Kenneth Steller

Kenneth Steller, from Little Falls, New Jersey, served in the U.S. Navy from July 1969 and May 1973. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) from 1971 to 1973 as a hospital corpsman third class (HM3). Steller also participated in the ship’s Human Relations Council, which had the goal of improving crew relations and reducing racial discrimination on board the ship. Steller joined the Navy in 1969; his first posting was Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. After he left the service in 1973, Steller earned advanced degrees in psychology and enjoyed a long career in counseling and consulting. The Museum interviewed Steller for our oral history collection in 2016 (see OHP.098).
