George H. Spooner

Geroge H. Spooner served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) in 1945 during World War II. He was a photo pilot with Fighting Squadron 10 (VF-10) and held the rank of ensign. He flew the F4U Corsair. His nickname was "Brush." On April 7, 1945, Spooner captured photographs of the Japanese battleship Yamato as it made its final turn and exploded.
