Robert Lillie
Robert Lillie served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1961. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVA-11) from 1958 until 1960. On Intrepid, he was initially assigned to the 3B Division, where he worked as a yeoman. He wanted to work in the print shop because he had done some printing work in high school. He transferred to Intrepid's print shop when a position opened. Lillie passed the test for lithographer third class, LI3, but he never "wore the crow" because the rating was full. Lillie was originally from Long Island, New York, which is where he lives as of this writing (2016). He has participated in our oral history project (OHP 108).
