DescriptionSlide, Color; Personal vertical image of the engine room in the submarine USS Growler, looking aft. The image shows the starboard diesel engine, identified in plans as the main generator set no. 1. The engine is painted gray. The engine is a Fairbanks Morse aluminum block, high speed engine. Crew member Romeyn Latham is leaning against the engine. He is wearing a blue cap, a blue jacket with a patch and dungarees. The patch is illegible. He has light skin and dark hair.

Slide mount has “Made in U.S.A.” printed in black on one side. “Kodachrome // duplicate // made by Kodak” printed in black on the other side.
