DescriptionSlide, Color; Personal horizontal image of the engine room control booth in the submarine USS Growler, looking forward at the control stand for the main diesel engines. The console has controls for each of the three diesel engines. Many gauges and indicators are on the wall. Romeyn Latham is standing with his hands on the control sticks for the no. 3 generator set. He is wearing a blue cap, blue dungarees and a blue jacket with U.S.S. Growler on the right shoulder. He has light skin and dark hair. Visible at left, behind Latham, is a hull openings indicator panel. Decommissioning tags on some of the equipment suggest a photo date of 1964.Slide mount has “Made in U.S.A.” printed in black and “21” written in black ink on one side. “Kodachrome // duplicate // made by Kodak” printed in black on the other side.
