DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Personal horizontal image of two crew members in the oil and water testing lab on USS Intrepid. Both sailors have dark hair and are wearing U.S. Navy chambray short-sleeved working shirts with the insignia of third class petty officers. One has light skin and the other has medium-light skin. The man in the foreground is standing behind and watching the actions of the man in the background. The sailor in the background is reaching into the boiler water test cabinet. He is holding a test tube in his left hand, and pouring liquid into it from a bottle in his right hand. The cabinet itself has several glass bottles inside of it, as well as a white ladle-like receptacle. The largest of the bottles, some clear and some opaque, are resting on the bottom of the cabinet. Three small bottles with dropper caps are clipped to the inside walls of the cabinet, and two more small bottles are clipped to the inside of the cabinet door. Wires, piping and a gauge are visible above the cabinet, and a sink is visible below it. There is a white border on the image with “Sep 67” printed in black ink. Back has “3” handwritten in blue ink and a repeating watermark which reads “A Kodak Paper.”
