Liberation was a monthly magazine published in New York City from 1955–1977 and was associated with left-wing politics. The November 1967 issue of Liberation includes an article about the Intrepid Four, the sailors who jumped ship in protest of the Vietnam War while Intrepid was in port in Yokosuka, Japan in October 1967. The article includes a brief introduction by Ernest P. Young, who met the four men in Tokyo. Following the introduction is a joint statement and an individual statement from each sailor. The statements describe their reasons for leaving the ship and their thoughts about the Vietnam War.
