DescriptionLighter; USS Intrepid lighter (a) in original box in two parts, box top (b) and bottom (c). a) Lighter – Silver lighter with flip lid with an engraving of Intrepid’s port side at sea and "U.S.S. Intrepid // CVA-11" underneath. It is filled in with enamel, the writing in red and the ship and water in black, blue and white. The bottom has "Bradford, PA // Zippo ® // Pat. 2517191" and seven dots that date the lighter to 1959 imprinted on it.
b) Box top - Top has “Zippo® // The // original // windproof // lighter” printed against a red and white striped background and the interior reads “To display – bend base // back at the score and // set it in the inverted // cover as shown above” and a diagram.
c) Box bottom - Bottom has a black exterior and red interior with “Zippo® // unconditionally guaranteed”. There is an inset space where the lighter rests that reads “For best results // use // Zippo® // flints and // Zippo fluid // place spare flints under felt in end” with a diagram.
