DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of three enlisted men in dungarees on the signal bridge on the island. There are two enlisted men in the background at left and a third man, Norman T. Appleford Jr., manning the signal flags in the foreground. Appleford, who has light skin, rests his hands on the ship's flag bag, which is not a bag but a metal frame used to store signal flags. The two men in the background appear to be having a conversation amongst themselves. One of these men has light skin and the other has medium-dark skin. There is a white border around the image.
