DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal image of USS Intrepid after the ship has collided into the side of the Panama Canal. The photograph was taken from the island looking down at the flight deck. Crew members who were standing on the flight deck have been knocked off their feet from the impact. There are aircraft with wings folded up on either side of the flight deck, including three Grumman TBF Avengers. The land on the slide of the canal is hilly. There is a white border around the image.Back has "USS Intrepid CV 11 Panama Canal #4" handwritten in black ink.
