DescriptionPhotograph, Color; Horizontal image of a British Airways Concorde on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. It’s notable that regular Concorde service was finally approved for NYC, after a protracted period of protest and political wrangling, in November of 1977. This photo, and P2021.42.01 may have been taken on the same date, or nearly the same date, that service began. The aircraft in the photos represent the original color schemes that both airlines flew during this time, though the exact identification letters cannot be seen. There are several cars around the plane. There is a stair car on the far side of the plane with a line of people waiting to walk up to the plane's door. There is a small group of people underneath the plane. A light-skinned man in a black hat and black jacket is walking in the foreground. The sky in the background is cloudy.Back has "JFK Concorde // Landing // 11/77" handwritten in black ink.
