DescriptionPhotograph, Color; Personal horizontal modern reprint image of USS Intrepid docked in port with a large line of civilians waiting to board the ship. There is a gangplank connecting the ship to a staircase with a banner that reads "USS Intrepid CVS-11 // COM-ASW-GRU-7." There are men, women, and children in civilian clothing waiting to enter the ship through the staircase. There is another gangplank and staircase in the background with civilians leaving the ship. Some sailors and officers are visible among the crowd. The tails of Grumman S-2E Trackers are partially visible on the flight deck aft of the island. The tails of Douglas A-4E Skyhawks are visible forward of the island on the flight deck. Some visible identification numbers on the tails include "2012" and "0022." There are some crew members visible on the catwalks on the side of the ship. There is a tree partially in the view at the left of the image. The sky is hazy.Back has "Lisbon, Portugal // 28 April 1971 ? // EASTLANT Cruise" handwritten in black ink.
