DescriptionPhotograph, Color; Vertical personal image of USS Intrepid’s island with some sailors in dungarees sitting on the flight deck in the foreground. There are sailors standing on the starboard aircraft elevator in the distance. The view shows the forward part of the island. Many radar masts are visible. “Fighting I” is painted in gold on the base of the island, and there is a sailor standing below it in dungarees. There are two sailors in enlisted dress white uniforms with a man in civilian clothing standing on the port side of the island. The tails of some aircraft are partially visible in the background. There is a bell attached to the flight deck on the starboard side, in the foreground. The sky is blue with some clouds and some water is seen in the background.On View
