DescriptionSlide, Color; Horizontal image looking down on aft end of USS Growler in dry dock at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. The rudders, propellers, and port side saddle tank are visible. The aft topside of the submarine and closed missile bays are also visible. Large scaffolding connects the bottom of the dry dock to the top of the ship. A gangway is connecting the top of the dry dock to the top of the sail. An American flag is flying from the aft end of the ship. Several crew members are on the top of the deck. The donor has noted that the orange pod on the aft end of the deck is “escape buoys (welded shut hatch)”. The donor has captioned the image, “Growler, dry dock, orange item is escape buoys (welded shut hatch)”.Slide mount has “Made in U.S.A.”, “29”, and “May 63Z” printed in black and yellow on one side. “Kodachrome // transparency // processed by Kodak” printed in red on the other side.
