William J. D'Antico

BiographyWilliam D’Antico served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) from 1961 to 1964. He was a seaman first class in the S-3 division and worked as a barber. During the evening, he hosted "The Mad Barber Show," a rock and roll radio program on Intrepid’s radio station, WINT. His call name was the Mad Barber.

After leaving the U.S. Navy, D'Antico became a licensed barber. He also attended the Columbia School of Broadcasting to pursue a career in broadcast announcing. D'Antico reported that he was honored with a Billboard Magazine program director of the year award, became program manager at the biggest top 40 radio station in the United States (KHJ in Los Angeles) and received a Clio Award for excellence in broadcasting.
