DescriptionExtent: 4 foldersThe Gerald McDonald letters contain correspondence between McDonald and his cousin Patsy; her husband, Dick; and their daughter, Charlene. The letters discuss family life, McDonald's impending marriage to Clem, then fiancé, now wife, life aboard USS Intrepid, various ports of call McDonald has visited and the often negative reception the crew has received, and what items family members want sent back from the various ports. The collection also includes items such as newspaper clippings that were included with the letters.
Correspondence; Four (4) postcards and fourteen (14) letters. November 1967 - December 21, 1968.
Card, Holiday; undated, front says "Greetings" with an image of a snowman and two top hat clad dolls. Inside says "Merry Christmas // Happy New Year" and is signed "That Boy".
Menu; United Nations Day October 24, 1968, found within an envelope addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Richard DeHart".
Flier; "Vote Wallace". Mentioned in and included with letter from August 1, 1968.
Newspaper clippings; Two (2) clippings regarding the Intrepid Four's desertion in November 1967. One regarding with the headline "Aircraft Carrier Teamwork // Puts Jets Safely Into Action". Found within an envelope addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Richard DeHart," dated January 16, 1968.
