DescriptionThe Eugene Harris Papers consist of a diary of his time on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid during World War II and a memorial certificate sent from the White House in honor of Harris' service.Diary; December 29, 1943-April 1946. Inside the front cover it says "Eugene N. Harris // U.S.N.R". The diary contains a detailed account of his time aboard Intrepid, which includes information regarding air strikes, kamikaze attacks, torpedo attacks, and other major events within the Pacific Theater, ports of call, and humorous anecdotes regarding the 17 bottles of beer he drank during the Ulithi Beer Run.
