DescriptionExtent: 1 folderCorrespondence; Letter, 4 pages, March 26, 1973. Letter to Thomas Pistorino's father, Anthony Pistorino, from R.H. Barker, USS Intrepid's commanding officer at the time. Pistorino's father had written to the captain concerning his son and the racial unrest onboard Intrepid in January 1973. In the letter, Barker briefly describes what caused the incidents and what he and the other officers had done in response to it. He reassures Pistorino's father that tensions have settled. He compliments both Mr. Pistorino on the letter he wrote and his son Tom on his performance on his first cruise, especially in his mess cooking duties. He informs Mr. Pistorino that Tom has been appointed Line Captain of the scullery and assures him he can be proud of the work his son has been doing.
