DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal image of two officers and three sailors standing on one of USS Intrepid’s catapult bridle arresters, or bridle catchers, at the bow end of the flight deck. The men are inspecting repairs to a catwalk below, which was damaged during a storm or mistral. The bridle arrester, criss-crossed with wooden beams and ropes, takes up the bottom half of the image. The officers are wearing U.S. Navy officer khaki work uniforms with buttoned up foul weather jackets and U.S. Navy officer hats. The sailors are wearing U.S. Navy foul weather uniforms with dark caps. The officers and sailors all have light skin. One of the officers is pointing to a spot on the deck of the bridle arrester, while the others look at the same spot. There is a white border around the image.A horizontal strip of paper is taped to the bottom part of the image with the caption “Here we are again at the flight deck bow. The rigging is for the catwalk repairs. PRUITT, SF1 “R” Division has this midnite repair shift” printed in black ink.
