DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal image of USS Intrepid’s starboard anchor lowered partway to the water. A tangle of wires, chains and several metal drums is wrapped around the anchor, which is in the center foreground of the image. Part of Intrepid’s bow is visible above and around the anchor, while the lower part of the image shows the sea. There is a white border around the image.A horizontal strip of paper is taped to the bottom part of the image with the caption “At the inner harbor in the bay of Naples to off-load dud aircraft. The anchor “fished” out some old WWII submarine nets. The attached drums kept the nets positioned” printed in black ink.
