DescriptionPlaque; Shield-shaped, wood plaque with a silver face plate. Text engraved on the face plate reads "To // The Officers And Men // Of The USS Grayback // SSG-574 // From // Chance Vought Aircraft, Inc. // In Commemoration of the First Submarine Launching // of the Regulus II Surface // To Surface Guided Missile". Engraved at center bottom is the Chance Vought company logo with two wings flanking a large "V" at center. Superimposed over the "V" is the text "Chance // Vought". Four screws secure the face plate to the wood mount, three at the top and one at center bottom.Back has three holes for mounting and two screws securing the faceplate to the mount. There is a string hook for hanging that is attached to the wood mount with two staples.
