DescriptionModel; Vought/Goodyear F4U-1D/FG1-D Corsair airplane model. The model features an open cockpit with realistic looking controls, and the wheels of the landing gear down in the landing position. The front section of the fuselage, in the area of the propeller and engine mount, has been cut away to show interior mechanical systems. The plane is dark blue. The U.S. military aircraft insignia of a white star on a blue background in between two white bars is painted on the left wing and both sides of the fuselage. The modex number "66" is painted in white on each side of the fuselage, the landing gear flaps as well as the vertical tail fin. A white stripe has been painted on the right wing and vertical tail fin. The stripe indicated that the aircraft was flying with Air Group 10 from USS Intrepid. The ends of the propellers are yellow. There are various other small markings, numbers and warnings painted on the body of the aircraft. The plane is mounted to a black piece of wood with clear plastic back section.On View
