DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of about 45 airmen sit or stand in a packed ready room and listen to instructions given by someone to the right of the photographer. The men, who are light-skinned, are wearing leather flight helmets, radio earphones, goggles, life vests with dye packs, bandoliers with side arms, and leather flight jackets. There is a white border around the image and “225” written in black ink in the upper right corner. The back has "80-G-225346 Pilots in ready room // get final instructions before taking // off from Intrepid on bomb runs to // Roi and Kwajaline [Kwajalein] in the Marshall // Islands. We are here from 30 Jan. to // 8 Feb. 1944. We then move on to Truk // Island in the Caroline Islands.", "#225346~ January 28 to Feb. 3, 1944 at the Marshall Islands. Air group 6 aboard. // Pilots get there orders to strike Roi Namure [Roi-Namur] and Kwajaline", and "The Squadron in Ready Room // gets instructions before take-off // to hit Jap and Roi Is. // on Intrepid in Feb. 1944" written, "Credit National Archives" stamped in the right corner, and "80-G-225346" written underneath it.
