DescriptionCartoon; Vertical black and white photograph of a cartoon or comic by Edward Ritter titled "Look – No Hands!" The cartoon depicts a pilot landing an airplane resembling an F6F Hellcat on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. The pilot is Snipo, a character who appears throughout Ritter's work. He is smiling and raising his arms in the air, making the flight crew nervous. On the port side of the ship, there are three flight deck crew members. One is covering his face with his hand, the landing signal officer has dropped his paddles, and a third is hiding behind a canvas barrier. The pilot is wearing a flight helmet with goggles on his forehead and headphones over his ears. All of the pictured crew have light skin. Farther down the flight deck, other flight deck crew run and jump out of the way. There is an airplane parked near the island. The ship sails through slightly choppy water with low clouds in the distance. Handwritten text on the artwork near the stern of the ship reads “Look – No hands! // Ritter // Oct 1944”.On View
