Reverend Arthur R. Stratemeyer

BiographyArthur Robert Stratemeyer served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) from June 22, 1944 to May 15, 1946, leaving as a water tender second class, WT2. He was in the B Division. Stratemeyer recounted that the B Division's responsibilities included pumping oil from storage tanks to the supply tanks for each boiler room, of which there were four, each with two boilers. The B Division also refueled Intrepid from tankers, and then Intrepid fueled destroyer escorts at sea. Stratemeyer reported that he was made yeoman of B Division. He trained at the Farragut, Idaho and Great Lakes naval training stations. His overall Navy dates are November 20, 1943 to May 24, 1946. Stratemeyer died at age 91 in September 2016.
