Morris B. Mellion

BiographyMorris B. Mellion served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. He served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) from August 1961 to June 1963. His service on the ship included a Mediterranean Cruise in 1961–1962 and the recovery of astronaut Scott Carpenter in 1962. Mellion attained the rank of lieutenant junior grade during his time on the ship. He served in a number of divisions, including the 1st Division, 3B Division and X Division. After his time in the Navy, Mellion went on to become a doctor. The Museum interviewed Mellion for the oral history collection (OHP.044).
