Jack Gabler

BiographyJack Gabler, who is from South Dakota, served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until 1966. He served on board the submarine USS Growler (SSG-577) as a sonarman third class, SO3, from June 1963 through April 1964, just before the submarine was decommissioned. When he first came on board Growler, he worked as a mess cook.

After Growler, Gabler served on board USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN-631), a Polaris missile submarine. After his time in the Navy, Gabler attended college and worked in accounting.

Gabler has participated in the Intrepid Museum's oral history project (OHP.142).
