BiographyJon W. Matthews, from Brooklyn, New York, joined the U.S. Navy in 1956. He served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVA-11) as a photographer's mate third class (PH3) from 1957 until 1960. After his discharge from the Navy in 1962, Matthews went on to receive a bachelor's degree in photography. He worked for the DuPont Corporation for 30 years.
