Mark Herskowitz

BiographyMark Herskowitz served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) in 1967, during the ship's second tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He served as an aviation electrician's mate third class (AE3) and was attached to attack squadron VA-34. He recalled that he worked first as a plane captain, than an ordnanceman then an aviation electrician's mate. Herskowitz said that he was a trouble shooter on the flight deck, doing final checks and making emergency repairs as airplanes prepared to launch. The Intrepid Museum interviewed Herskowitz for the oral history collection (OHP.227).
