BiographyErnest K. Robinson, M.D. served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) as chief flight surgeon in the Medical Department during World War II. He was part of the ship's commissioning crew in 1943 and served on board the ship for about 18 months. After leaving the ship, Robinson completed his service at the U.S. Naval Receiving Hospital, San Francisco. Robinson held the rank of lieutenant commander during his time on Intrepid and was later promoted to commander before his discharge from the Navy in December 1945. Robinson was awarded the Bronze Star and Navy-Marine Corps Medal for his wartime service. After the war, Robinson returned to private practice as a surgeon in Kansas City Missouri.
