John F. Forsyth

BiographyJohn F. Forsyth served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) during World War II. He was an SB2C Helldiver pilot with Bombing Squadron 18 (VB-18). Forsyth received the Navy Cross for his actions on October 25, 1944, when Intrepid was engaged in combat in the Philippines. He dropped his bombs on a Japanese aircraft carrier, contributing to its sinking. Forsyth was a lieutenant junior grade at the time.
