DescriptionFilm, Color; 5” reel of 8mm film with no audio within a metal canister. Subjects include: flight operations of a helicopter possibly performing a rescue, sailors relaxing, swimming, and playing with a coconut on an unknown beach, and underway replenishment operation. Aircraft noted are Piasecki HUP-2 Retriever, Sikorsky H-34 Chactaw, Sikorsky SH-3 Sea Kings and a VA-34 Douglas A-4C Skyhawk taking off from the flight deck. Interior shots including enlisted berthing and an office space marked “ET Shop,” with men working and one playing a harmonica, including a chair that reads "V-6 Div," refueling, New York Harbor including the Statue of Liberty, and other unidentified ports. The canister top has a paper taped to it that reads “May 63 – Dec 63 // Navy #2 // Saving helo pilot and losing // his helo // Virgin Islands // Picking up Scott Carpenter // Compt aboard ship // Jamaica // Shop aboard ship (with myself) // Refueling destroyer” and two stickers with barcodes and “200”. The reel has “Kodak Movie Reel 200 ft 8MM Made in U.S.A. by Eastman Kodak Co. Rochester, N.Y.” and marks for approximate running time and feet.
