DescriptionBottle, Christening; USS Intrepid christening bottle with the majority of the green champagne bottle broken off and missing. The remaining top of the bottle is covered in gold foil and encased in a stained brown net that was originally white. The net is torn at the bottom. Multiple red, white and blue ribbons are tied around the neck of the bottle. Two red ribbons have “U.S.S. Intrepid” and “Newport News, VA” embroidered blue text respectively. Two white ribbons have "Apr 26, 1943” and “N.N.S. & D.D. Co” embroidered red text respectively. The initials stand for: Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company.On View
