DescriptionExtent: 1 folderThe Jacob Jack Elefant Papers contain papers pertaining to training, service, USS Intrepid's commissioning, and correspondence from relatives and friends. There are certificates of training courses, rating description, and a memorandum detailing the medals and ribbons Elefant is qualified to wear. The Intrepid papers include programs and menus from celebrations on board and Plans of the Day. Correspondence in this collection includes postcards and letters. There are also clippings from newspapers and magazines detailing an Intrepid former crew member searching for other members of night fighting squadron VF(N)-101 who were on board Intrepid on February 17, 1944 when the ship was struck by a torpedo.
