DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of Intrepid leaving New York City after receiving the angled flight deck refit at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The photograph is an aerial view and captures Intrepid sailing down the East River, past Manhattan, New York. Men are manning the rails on the front half of the deck. There are tugboats and small boats sailing on either side of the ship. The piers on the East Side of Manhattan and the city’s skyscrapers are visible at the top half of the photograph. There is a caption in red pen in the top left of the image, “USS Intrepid CVA-11 // Leaving N.Y. City- 1957 // 8 months in Navy Yard”. There is a white border around the image.On View
