DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Horizontal image of Winston Churchill just as he has ascended a stairway in Gibraltar. A woman who appears to be his wife, Clementine, ascends the steps behind him. Two men in civilian suits are greeting Churchill at the top of the stairs. At left, there is a black state car with what appears to be the flag of the United Kingdom on the hood. Photographers and other people are standing at left, watching Churchill. There are ships in the distance, including USS Intrepid at right. There is a white border around the image. The back has “Winston Churchill at // Gibraltar March of 1959 // USS Intrepid in background.” written in red ink.
