DescriptionExtent: 1 folderThe R. Nicholas Chapman Papers contain reports, poems and programs from Chapman's time aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11). R. Nicholas Chapman served on board Intrepid for the 1972–1973 cruise and as part of the decommissioning crew. He was the H Division Officer in the Medical Department and oversaw sick bay. Included in these papers are three farewell poems to various squadrons, the USS Intrepid Medical Report for 1972–1973, a program from Intrepid's 1974 Decommissioning ceremony, and a program from Intrepid's 30th commissioning anniversary in 1973.

Report; USS Intrepid Medical Report 1972–1973
- The Medical Report for USS Intrepid's last cruise. Information includes a summary of the Medical Department's activities during USS Intrepid's nine-month deployment in the North Atlantic. It includes reports from the senior medical officer, the surgeon, the flight surgeon and the medical administrative officer (Chapman). There are also comprehensive lists of the ports of call Intrepid visited, surgical procedures that occurred on board, and frequently consulted Navy printed instructions. There are also two charts that detail when and where the most cases of certain diseases and infections occurred.
