DescriptionPlaque; Vertical rectangular wooden award plaque with copper faceplate. The plaque has beveled edges. The back has vertical and horizontal cutouts for hanging. The copper faceplate is boarded with an image of rope. There is a round seal in the top center that has an exterior border of rope and an interior border of linked chain. Between the rope and chain is black text that is separated by black five-pointed stars that reads "Department of the Navy // Supply Systems Command". In the center is an eagle with outstretched wings holding an anchor with a shield on its chest. There are branches with ribbon intertwined in the leaves on either side of the seal. Black text on the award reads "United States Navy // Edward F. Ney Memorial Award // presented to // USS Intrepid // (CVS-11) // for excellence // in // food service operations // 1970 // third place // large general mess // afloat // (illegible signature) // commanding officer // Navy subsistence office // (illegible signature) // commander // naval supply systems command".On View
