DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official horizontal image of two sailors holding packages of bricks in a compartment on USS Intrepid. The two sailors have light skin and dark hair, and they are wearing U.S. Navy dungaree working uniforms. They are both lifting packages of light-colored firebrick held together by dark straps. More packages are on the deck around the sailors. There are lockers and shelves behind the two sailors. The locker visible in the center of the image has black text stenciled on it reading “4 OBA WITH CANISTER.” The compartment label on the bulkhead behind the men indicates the space is associated with the S-2 Division.A horizontal strip of paper is taped to the bottom part of the image with the caption “‘Firemen’ King & Gauthier handling brick for #2 Fireroom” printed in black ink.
