DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official vertical image of two enlisted sailors and an officer inspecting one of the engine turbines on USS Intrepid. The officer is crouching on the left side of the image with one hand on a railing level with his face, and the other outstretched toward the edge of the turbine casing visible in the foreground. He has light skin and is wearing a U.S. Navy officer khaki work uniform; he is Commander Michael V. Martini. Two enlisted sailors wearing U.S. Navy dungaree working uniforms with insignia of first class petty officers are standing behind and to the right of Commander Martini. Both enlisted sailors have light skin. One has dark hair with a long forelock, and the other has medium hair in a buzz cut. They are looking at the turbine casing. Large ventilation ducts crisscross in the background of the image.
