DescriptionPhotograph, Black and white; Official vertical image of sailors working on one of the turbo-generators on USS Intrepid while an officer looks on. The generator is located in the forward engine room. The officer in the foreground is Commander Michael Martini. He has light skin and dark hair and is wearing a U.S. Navy officer’s khaki work uniform. He is looking down and to the right at an enlisted sailor who is crouching next to the generator. The enlisted sailor has dark skin and dark hair, and is wearing a U.S. Navy dungaree working uniform with a white cap. He is looking upward at Commander Martini. Another enlisted sailor, who has light skin and dark hair and is wearing a U.S. Navy dungaree working uniform, is bending down towards the throttle valve on the generator. Two more enlisted sailors are conversing in the background, mostly obscured by Commander Martini in front of them. Generator components and pipes are also visible in the background of the image. There is white border around the image.

A horizontal strip of paper is taped to the bottom part of the image with the caption “WHITE rolls ‘dem pearly white’ eyes in shock at the loss of #2 generator load. CANTRELL, EMC, bends into the root of the problem” printed in black ink.
